When I wrote last time, I wrote about Phil Hellmuth because he’s part of the team that advertises UB and the UB referral code, and today I will write about Annie Duke, another UB spokesperson. Among the most prominent women poker professionals around today, Duke won a World Series of Poker bracelet six years back playing Omaha Hi-Low. She was born in New Hampshire and has a brother, a sister, and three children.
Duke began representing UB and the UB referral code ten years ago back in 2000. Many would agree that she is an excellent tournament player, as she’s cashed over $4 million in live MTT poker. Her highest finish in the WSOP ME was 10th in the year 2000. To make it more impressive, she was pregnant with her third kid at the time! She’s cashed in the World Series 37 times, bringing her total WSOP cashes to $1.1 million in total, and in 2004 she won $2 million in the WSOP Tournament of Champions.
Duke isn’t well known in the poker community just because she’s a female poker player. In 2004 she tutored Ben Affleck, and then he proceeded to win the California State Poker Championship. She was the first poker player to talk on the Colbert Report, she participated in the game show 1 vs 100 not just once but three times, and she’s appeared on Deal or No Deal once. She was even a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice just last year where she came 2nd behind Joan Rivers even though she raised 3 times more money for her charity, Refugees International. Add the fact that she’s on UB’s Best Damn Poker Show, and you have to wonder how she ever has time to play any poker hands.
Duke proudly supports US compatible casinos, and she’s not afraid to voice her opinion. She has a huge problem with the fact that players are not free to have logos on their clothes during select live tournaments. One quote from her on this subject: “We are not even slaves. We're people paying to pick the cotton.” Duke acknowledges the fact she’s one of only a few successful women in poker, but she disagrees with the fact that women have their own exclusive tournaments. Her opinion on the subject: "Poker is one of the few sports where a woman can compete on a totally equal footing with a man, so I don't understand why there's a ladies only tournament." Because of this, she refuses to receive hands in women only events.
Annie Duke is an excellent representative for both UB and poker in general. When people see her on TV, it encourages them to download free poker and play one of the best games around. If you’d like a chance to play poker with her, go ahead and make a UB download today.
